A year and a bit in the making, so we were very excited to officially launch Valais Wanders towards the end of January '25.
Born, like most good ideas, from a kitchen table glass of wine or two type of evening, where Dad jokingly mentioned Valais Blacknose sheep as an addition to our Kypie flock but adding value in a completely different way to our other breeds.............. Agritourism!
Well, say no more Dad! Valais Blacknose ewes bought, followed by the realisation that halter breaking 2 year old sheep was not going to happen, leading to the conversation that we therefore need to breed our own lambs to halter break in our usual manner, meaning that my Christmas present from Mum and Dad in 2023 was our very own Valais Blacknose Ram! And just like that, a lot later than originally planned, we have our very own Valais lambs ready and waiting to welcome you all to our unique Northumbrian sheep trekking experience! Yippee!

So, why sheep trekking? I spend a huge amount of my time with our sheep and throughout the years you encounter some real characters and the self proclaimed "cutest sheep in the world" are no different! They are naturally inquisitive and incredibly kind, gentle and patient animals, it's hard not to fall in love with them!
Add to that, the fact that we live in one of the most stunning locations in Northumberland or arguably the UK and I enjoy sharing our family farm with as many people as possible, this venture seemed a natural progression to expand on our annual farm open days and numerous school visits by welcoming individuals and families, local or visiting the area, to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of our daily surroundings while enjoying the calming nature of their woolly companions, the Valais Wanders team!
We have been totally blown away with the bookings so far and can't wait to get going on our Agritourism journey, sharing our corner of Northumberland with you and your family!
